Over the last 20 years fake Christmas Trees have become increasingly popular and now over 50% of American households will put up a fake Christmas tree this year. These fake trees are made out of plastic, and manufactured with chemicals that are dangerous for humans to come in contact with. The biggest argument supporting fake trees is that they are reusable from year to year, and while this is true the average life span of a fake tree is only 10 years, meaning that every 10 years a families fake Christmas tree will be thrown into the landfill. A big misconception about real Christmas trees is that they are cut out of the forest, and this is false. Over 95% of Christmas Trees are plantation-grown and harvested just as any other agricultural crop. After Christmas some cities grind up the trees into mulch used to cover flower beds, completing the tree's cycle.
